The Housemaid's Secret by Freida McFadden
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ 4 stars ~
Plot: Mille is back, she is still working as a maid, and her financial struggles are endless but better as now she has a home in South Bronx. She is studying to be a social worker and has a new boyfriend Brock, a lawyer who doesn't know her dark past. She isn’t truly in love with him and is still stuck on Enzo. Life is steady until it isn't. She loses her current job but gets an offer from Douglas Garrick, a wealthy tech Ceo. There is one catch, she should never interact with his wife Wendy who is terribly ill. Something is definitely wrong.
The doesn’t pick up right from where it left off but provides enough context to fill the time gap. This could very well be a standalone ( Honestly I wish it was, cause I spent most of the time comparing it to the prequel). The book is exactly like The Housemaid
It has an engaging plot, brisk writing, twists, and an intriguing prologue that gets you
But also has repetitive writing, cringey lines. The first half was slow. Also, Mille was kinda ill towards Brock, I mean he puts in so much effort and you are just not even gonna try.
Tbh I did enjoy this better than the 1st book
Captivating thriller
