The Selection by Kiera Cass || Book Review

I was kinda unsure whether to read the book or not since most reviews had 1 star rating but for me it was okay.

Plot:America is currently a Monarchy named 'Illéa' with a rigid caste system from the poor eights to the royal ones. Then there is our girl America Singer a five (poor but not destitute). She has a secret love, Aspen a caste below her and there is the Selection - A game show where the prince finds his soulmate by dating 35 girls at the same time.

America signs up for the Selection because of the pressure from her mother and Aspen ( yes he is an idiot) and she gets selected. America becomes friends with Prince Maxon since she doesn't have feelings for him... yet. She has a deal with Maxon. She'll be his friend, his eyes and ears in exchange for keeping her in the competition.

Our main characters slowly start falling in love. Aspen becomes a royal guard which makes it 10 times harder.

Characters: The characters were decent...JUST decent. The minor characters aren't explained detailly, I mean we never get to know them. the selected girls just fall into their own stereotypes-the kind one, the bully, etc...

America: Typical fiery, badass, compassionate main character with red hair.

Maxon; Meh. The prince doesn't know half the things about the world he's living in. fun fact he smells like a toilet cleaner

Aspen; We need to talk. *sighs* *screams*

He was great at first and now he is just incredibly stupid.

He loves America so he dumps America, forces her to join the Selection , he cheats on her and then says he wants her back

"I'm not some charity case, America. I'm a man. I'm supposed to be a provider."

I'm tired

Romance: Probably the only okaish part of this book. It has some fluffy romance

and the Love Triangle

America and Aspen and America and Maxon and repeat

Seriously both boys don't deserve America and America doesn't deserve them either 

The names. Oh My God!!, the names are so weird America Singer, Tiny( SeriAloSy) , Clarkson, Swendway.

Dystopia, More like the lack of it really so, the US got in a lot of debt so China invaded, And so this guy named Gregory Illéa defeated China or something and renamed America as Illéa. The rebels invade the palace ( No nuclear weapons or anything) and the royals hide in a room, and they are safe and happy. This is not what I expected the future to be.

“No, I’m not choosing him or you. I’m choosing me.”

It's a romance novel with a pinch of Dystopia.
