The War that saved my Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley || Book Review
Everyone’s rating it 5 stars I really want to see what’s the hype about
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Plot: Ada, a young girl about 10 years of age has a club foot due to which her cruel mother decides to lock her up in the room her whole life. The only person she has interacted with is her little brother Jamie who she feeds and takes care of until he starts school. World War 2 is around the corner and Hilter is going to start bombing England so, all the parents decide to send their kids away even though Mam(Ada’s mother_Which mother tells her own kids to call her mam) plans to send Jamie not Ada but both kids escape and make their way to the countryside and are reluctantly taken in by Susan, a recluse who has issues of her own. Susan, Ada, and Jamie should overcome their struggles and learn to live happily with what they have.

➴ Amazing plot idea
I personally adored the plot. The idea of bringing together a disabled abused girl, a little scared boy, and an isolated lady is amazing.
➴ Wonderful execution and writing
The book focuses on a lot of things: struggles, club foot, atrocious mom, trust issues, stereotypes, friendship, and Love then there is ‘hope’ for a better life. The author managed to talk about each and every point without overdoing it with emotions and stuff, she flawlessly balances everything. She makes sure we don’t start to preach Sympathy to Ada rather we give support.
➴ Tension
There is so much tension that’s how I felt reading the book, tense about what will happen next, so tense I read this book in one day(Yes, one day don’t come after me).
➴ Ponies
When I say ponies don’t think about anything cutesy, it's not. I like the way the author uses Ada’s love for(riding) ponies as a symbol of freedom
➴ No stereotypes to be found
Whenever an author writes a book against stereotypes he/she unintentionally lets their character slip into a stereotype but our author doesn't make that mistake I honestly thought Margaret(daughter of the rich lady) would be the mean girl with an inflated ego but she isn’t, I’m honestly surprised but still happy
Beautiful book, unputdownable, Go read it (it's an order😉) can't wait to read the sequel
Have you read the sequel
